Houston Laser Hair Removal

What is Laser Hair Removal?
Laser hair removal is the latest advance in hair reduction. At Houston Weight Loss & Lipo Centers we provide the newest technology for removing unwanted hair. Only lasers that specifically target hair are used, not pulsed light devices. New technology has also enabled treating small areas like upper lips in a matter of seconds and larger areas like backs only take about 30 minutes.  Lasers work by delivering energy of a specific wavelength that is absorbed by the dark pigment in the hair follicle and hair root, permanently disabling the hair root.

Are the lasers treatments painful?
We use a specialized cooling system that actively cools the skin during treatment, making laser treatments more comfortable. For sensitive areas, numbing cream is also available.

How many treatments does it take to fully get rid of the hair?
After 4-6 treatments, the majority of hair will be gone and any hair that remains will be of a lighter color and finer texture. More than one treatment is needed because the pigment the laser targets is only present when hairs are in the ‘active’ stage of hair growth.

What are the different stades of hair growth?
There are 3 stages of hair growth-active, nourishing, and resting. When hair is in any stage other than the active, its roots are not producing the pigment that the laser targets, therefore these hairs will not be effectively treated. For the laser to treat these hairs successfully, the hairs must pass into the active stage. This can take 3-6 weeks to occur depending upon the area of the face or body that the hair is growing.  For best results, subsequent treatments should be performed within one week of noticing new hair growth.

Who performs the laser treatments?
Before your first treatment, Dr. John Bergeron, MD or one of our physician associates will consult with you and answer any questions that you may have. The laser treatment is then performed by one of our certified Laser Technicians that have completed comprehensive training with the lasers we use.

NOTE: All our physicians and laser technicians that perform laser treatments are certified and have completed training in treating patients with these specific devices.
